Katie Burnett

Katie was born in the small town of Brunswick, Georgia in October of 1989 and started playing golf at six years old.  She played many different sports and did not compete in her first non-high school tournament until she was 16 years old; it was then golf became her passion.  Katie won her first junior tournament when she was 17 and then her game quickly improved from there.

Katie received a full scholarship from then Coach Kristi Coggins to The University of South Carolina. Dividing her time between studying and competing she became one of the greatest to ever play for the University.  Katie graduated as the All-time Career Scoring Leader in South Carolina's history and a two-time All American. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Psychology. Fun Fact: Katie received numerous scholarship offers for softball before she had any golf scholarship offers. She was a highly sought after right hand pitcher and 3rd baseman; having a 62mph fast ball as a 14year-old.

Katie turned (golf) professional in June of 2012, actually winning her very first professional event she played in, the Michigan Women's Open. This first summer as a professional became even more successful when she qualified for the 2012 U.S. Women's Open, played at the beautiful Black Wolf Run in Wisconsin. In December of that year she gained full status on the Ladies European Tour (LET), and partial status on the Ladies Professional Golf Association tour (LPGA) for the 2013 season; both through the respective Qualifing Schools.
Once halfway through her first season, she earned full status on the LPGA and finished that season in the top 100 on the money list. Along side this Katie played in 7 events on the LET with finishes in the Top 5 three times and ended that season in the Top 40 on the LET money list. Katie's main focus lies on the LPGA tour schedule, as this is the premiere ladies professional golf tour for women in the world.

Since then Katie has been a steady force on both the LPGA and LET tour. Keeping her card on both tours, collecting top 10s, top 20s, and gaining valuable experience.

An absolute highlight is her runner-up finish in the 2016 LOTTE Championship, played at the Ko Olina Resort in Hawaii. Leading after the 3rd round she gave a good fight as she saw her 30ft birdie putt slide by the cup on the 72nd hole to just miss going into a play-off.

She has recorded 7 other top 20 finishes, including 2 top tens, on the LPGA and has a 54% top 20 finish ratio on the LET, including three top 5's in only 24 true LET starts.

This season, her 6th year on both the LPGA and LET, Katie is working hard to become a more consistent player in order to play late on Sunday more often, to compete for more top 10s and, ultimately, trophies. She is a gritty player, who will never give up. She will take on anybody in a short game competition, as she has one of the best short games's out on tour. Along side this she is a good putter and driver of the ball; she is ready to take names this season.

Besides golf Katie loves to be outdoors, play other sports, visit National Parks, and see beautiful historical sites around the world. More fun facts: as a kid she dreamt of being a Veterinarian, she is a walking animal encyclopedia.
